Spring 6/12 hr - Saturday 15 October |
The Spring rogaine was held in the great Slap-Up area of Jerangle. Course setters Mike and Marg Harrap provided a great course with a good mix of very fast open country and more heavily timbered areas. A few of the vague granite knolls and gullies caught some teams out and the snakes that quite a few teams saw got the teams moving quickly! Despite these challenges a lot of fun was had. Jerangle P and C put on a good spread for teams in the shearing shed of Slap-Up owners Lisa Phillips and Dick Walker. Thank you to organiser Aaron Coles and helpers Glenn Bridgart and Julie Quinn.
Congratulations to overall 6 hr winners Paul Veldkamp, Vince Craig and David Singleton and to overall 12 hr winners Phil Whitten and Pam Muston. Full results and navlight splits are on the event page. Also see the photo gallery and add your story.
A 6hr Ay-Up battery was left behind. Please contact Julie if it is yours. |

ACTRA Rewards for Volunteering |
The ACT Rogaining Association is now rewarding volunteers for events to recognise the importance that volunteers have on our sport. Our events could not be run without volunteers. The volunteering webpage has the details on the rewards policy. In short,
volunteers who have contributed at least a full day to the event and have given up their opportunity to compete will be offered a free entry to an ACTRA organised rogaine in the following 12 months. People who have volunteered for events so far this year will receive a reward where they are eligible. |

Vale Ian Booth - a thank you from Anna |
Julia and I have been deeply touched by the beautiful messages we have received; by the flowers which have brought colour and beauty into our cold, sad home; and by the numbers of rogainers who were able to attend Ian's picnic at the Botanic Gardens. Ian became an enthusiastic bushwalker many, many years ago. When he was introduced to rogaining he had found a sport which he loved. His love of the bush, his optimism, cheerfulness, and endurance made him a delightful rogaining partner. He was looking forward to the ACT Rogaine Championship and another opportunity for mental and physical challenges, fun, and adventure.
He was always happy to help by organising events, course setting, and controlling. On any trip through the bush Ian would be looking out for suitable rogaining country. Julia and I thank you all so much for your friendship and support and wish you all the very best. Anna and Julia Booth.
