Member Protection Information Officer Print E-mail

As a requirement of receiving ACT Government funding, ACTRA is appointing a Member Protection Information Officer, whose role will be as first point of contact in the event of any complaint or concern regarding abusive or discriminatory behaviour or harassment.

Our MPIO is Helen McAuley, ph 6282 1685, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . She attended a workshop on 28th November to learn about relevant legislation, policies, and procedures and options for handling complaints. The Australian Sports Commission website (www.ausport.gov.au) and "Play by the Rules" website (www.playbytherules.net.au) are useful resources.

Compared with many sports clubs, e.g. those in which large numbers of players, including children, are coached, selected, and travel away from home, ACTRA has far less risk of complaint. However, it can still happen, and it makes sense for all of us as members and office-bearers to remind ourselves of our responsibilities, and to be informed about what to do in such a case.

If you would like more information about this, have a chat to Helen.
